§ Brigadier-General SURTEESasked the Attorney General whether a large number of books and manuscripts belonging to the 1948W old ecclesiastical courts, and which contain important matter of historical, biographical, and genealogical interest, are kept in the Probate Registry at Somerset House; and whether he will take steps to render them accessible to students?
§ Sir E. POLLOCKThe answer to the first part of the question is in the affirmative, and as to the last part I am informed that, owing to the limitations of staff and accommodation, the documents cannot under existing circumstances be rendered accessible to students. It must also not be forgotten that many of these documents are of a private character.
