§ Mr. T. W. BROWNasked the Chief Secretary for Ireland whether he is aware that many of the teachers in Irish intermediate schools have not received any 1058W increase of salary since 1914; whether he can state when the sum of £64,000 promised for the augmentation of the salaries of teachers in Irish secondary schools will be available for distribution; and when does he expect to be in a position to publish the rules under which this grant is to be distributed?
§ Mr. MACPHERSONRepresentations have been made to the effect indicated in the first part of the question. Pending the passing of the Irish Education Bill, it is not anticipated that any additional funds will be available for the augmentation of secondary teachers' salaries, and the third part of the question does not therefore arise at present.
