Mr. CHAMBERLAINThe cost to the Exchequer of the Bread Subsidy during the current financial year is estimated at £56,500,000. I am informed that the cost of the four-pound loaf, if the cost were based on the present price of wheat averaged over home-grown and imported, would be about Is. 3d.
