§ Mr. FORRESTasked the Under-Secretary of State for the Colonies whether his attention has been called to the dispossession of the 900,000 natives of Southern Rhodesia from the ownership of their lands; and whether, as the decision of the Judicial Committee of the Privy Council has now transferred the legal title to the Crown, His Majesty's Government will appoint an impartial committee of inquiry, with a view to the resettlement of the dispossessed natives, and that on such committee there may be representatives of the missionaries and of the officials of native affairs?
§ Lieut.-Colonel AMERYNo, Sir; there is no occasion for the appointment of a Committee of Inquiry, as my hon. Friend will see from the Parliamentary Paper Cmd. 547, which has just been published.
