§ Mr. HOLMESasked the Parliamentary Secretary to the Ministry of Munitions, what is the present position with regard to the oil-borings in Derbyshire?
§ Sir H. GREENWOODAs the Minister in charge of the Petroleum Department, I shall reply to this question. In order to make a thorough test of the Derbyshire district a chain of seven wells was planned covering a distance of approximately 20 miles. The well at Hardstoft has produced approximately 1,900 barrels of oil. Shows of oil have been met with in some of the other borings and work is still continuing. A copy of the Report of the Petroleum Executive on the drilling operations issued on the 24th January last will be forwarded to the hon. Member.
