§ Mr. PERKINSasked the Parliamentary Secretary to the Board of Agriculture, whether an application to continue the use of a miniature rifle range on Crown land at Lyndhurst has been made on behalf of ex-soldiers, civilians, and boy scouts; whether the application has been refused; and, if so, whether he will state the grounds of such refusal?

BOSCAWENAn application was made by one or two private individuals for permission to utilise a rifle range (in a sand pit) recently used temporarily for service rifles, but it was refused for the following reasons:—It was ascertained that the ex-soldiers in the district did not want the range and that a well-equipped miniature rifle range existed at the Workmen's Club which could be used for Boy Scouts and others by arrangement. The sand pit is worked by the Crown and is a common playground for village children.
