Mr. THOMASasked the Chief Secretary for Ireland -whether his attention has been called to the arrest in Dublin by the military of a railway man named Joseph Joyce, without any charge being-preferred against him, but under the excuse that his brother was required by the authorities and that he would be released immediately his brother gave himself up; and whether he proposes to take any action in the matter?
§ Sir H. GREENWOOD:This man was arrested under Restoration of Order in Ireland Regulation 55 on suspicion of being deeply implicated in plots against the Government in Ireland, but as he could not be identified with the man of 2125W the same name to whom the evidence in the possession of the Government relates he was released on the 5th instant. I have no reason to believe that the allegation in the last part of the right hon. Member's question is well founded and see no ground for action, other than that which has already been taken.
