Mr. PALMERasked the Secretary of State for War whether his attention has been called to the correspondence addressed to the War Office by ex-Private C. H, Heddon with reference to Major G. C. Evans and Lieut. Haydon; whether, in view of the War Office letter of 1st September 1919, he can say if the inquiries are yet completed; and whether it is intended to institute any proceedings in the matter?
§ Mr. CHURCHILLThe answer to the first two parts of the hon. Member's question is in the affirmative, and as regards the last part, I do not propose to take any further proceedings. On 16th September, 1919, Mr. Heddon was informed that a further communication would be addressed to him should circumstances render such a course necessary. These circumstances did not arise.
