§ Mr. PURCHASEasked the Chancellor of the Exchequer what subsidies will be in existence after the railway and bread subsidies have been abolished; and whether he can offer any approximate date as to when these remaining subsidies will also be abolished?
Mr. CHAMBERLAINI am not aware of any other grants of the nature mentioned except those under the Housing and Land Settlement Acts of last Session. The main Exchequer grants for housing and land settlement schemes will be payable for many years. The subsidy to private builders is limited to a period ending in December, 1921.
