HC Deb 30 April 1920 vol 128 c1596W

Although the forty-four hours is an established fact, we are prepared, in view of the Housing problem, to advise our members to work one hour in excess of the eight hours Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday at the normal rate, provided that a man shall not be penalised if he desires to work only forty-four hours.

This to apply to the expediting of Housing Scheme only.

With reference to maintenance work, the same conditions shall prevail subject to the consent of the Local Joint Committee.

Systematic overtime on all other works to be strictly prohibited.

At the end of the normal day and before proceeding with the extra hour's work, there may be fifteen minutes interval for tea.

This agreement is subject to a three months' periodical review.

Signed on behalf of the Executive Committee.

W. BRADSHAW,

Secretary."
