§ Captain LOSEBYasked the Minister of Pensions if he is aware that widows of serving soldiers killed whilst on leave in this country from France have been informed that they are not entitled to full pensions, and that this ruling has caused dissatisfaction; and if the House can be given any information on the subject?
§ Major TRYONUnder Article 11 of the Royal Warrant the widow of a soldier who is accidentally killed can only be granted full pension if the death took place in the performance of military duty. If the soldier was proceeding to his home, or returning from it, when the accident took place, it is generally possible to bring the death within this category, but it is otherwise where he was actually at home and thus met his death in purely civilian circumstances. A woman to whom pension has been refused on this ground may appeal to the Pensions Appeal Tribunal.
