HC Deb 29 April 1920 vol 128 cc1427-8W
Mr. J. JONES

asked the Minister of Transport the number of officials who have been transferred from the various railway companies to the new Ministry of Transport; and if he will give the names of the companies and the individuals concerned and the amount of salary which these gentlemen are receiving?

Sir E. GEDDES

The officials transferred to the Ministry from railway companies are 51 in number; in addition there are 17 officials serving in the Ministry on loan from railway companies or the Railway Clearing House. The officials transferred to the Ministry from railway companies occupy posts in the various grades of the staff of the Ministry and are in receipt of the salaries applicable to those grades, as shown in the Estimates for the Ministry. It is not considered possible within the scope of an answer to a question to give the details asked for in respect of the individuals concerned, but if the hon. Member desires further information I shall be happy to give him further particulars on any point if he will communicate with me. These 68 officials have been obtained from the following railway companies:—
