asked the Minister of Health the total number of indoor Poor Law children; the number of children over and under three years of age who were in sick wards and other wards, respectively, of workhouses; and the number of children in receipt of outdoor relief on 1st January, 1920?

Dr. ADDISON

The number of children of the classes referred to on the 1st January, 1920, was:

In receipt of institutional relief 59,283
In receipt of outdoor relief (including children boarded out) 138,380

asked the Minister of Health the number of children boarded out within and beyond the union in England and Wales on 1st January, 1920?

Dr. ADDISON

In England and Wales, on 1st January, 1920, the number of Poor Law children boarded out within the union was 7,655, and the number boarded out beyond the union was 1,699.
