asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer whether he can give an estimate as to how much the business profits assessable to Income Tax increased in 1919–20 over 1914–15; and by how much wages, salaries and small incomes increased in the same period?

The gross income brought under the review of the Inland Revenue Department, as regards Schedule D (which consists mainly of profits from business) and Schedule E (which relates mainly to salaries), was as follows:—
