HC Deb 29 April 1920 vol 128 cc1444-5W
Sir H. BRITTAIN

asked the Minister of Food whether the distribution of frozen meat for consumption in Great Britain is being materially hampered by lack of insulated rolling stock on the railways?

Mr. McCURDY

I am glad to have this opportunity of supplementing and correcting a reply which I gave to a supplementary question on the 20th instant, arising out of a question put to me by the hon. and gallant Member for Kingston-upon-Hull (Lieut.-Commander Kenworthy). I am informed by the Ministry of Transport that insulated vans could, if required, be provided for the carriage of about 1,000 tons of frozen meat per day in addition to the average amount which is now being distributed, and that lack of transport facilities is in no way hampering the distribution of meat.
