asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer what is the amount of the German indemnity due to this country at the end of March; if any of the indemnity due has been paid; and, if so, what is the total amount in money and the quantities in materials?

In reply to the first part of the question, I must refer the hon. Member to the reply given by my hon. Friend the Financial Secretary to the Treasury to a similar question addressed to the Prime Minister by the hon. Member for South Hackney (Mr. Bottomley) on the 30th ultimo; in reply to the second and third parts, I must, refer to the reply which I gave to at question addressed to the Prime Minister by the noble and gallant Viscount the Member for South Battersea (Viscount Curzon) on the 22nd instant.
