§ Mr. S. WALSHasked the Chancellor of the Exchequer whether the Royal Agricultural Society of England has been exempt from payment of the Entertainments Duty in respect of admissions to its annual show; and, if so, whether he can see his way to grant the same exemption to industrial exhibitions, which are conducted on lines similar to those on which the Royal Agricultural Society's show is conducted and organised, by societies which have for their principal objects the promotion of industrial knowledge and 1239W progress, and which expend all profits accruing from their exhibitions in the furtherance of these objects?
Mr. CHAMBERLAINI am informed that exemption from Entertainments Duty has been granted to the annual shows of the Royal Agricultural Society, as to those of other agricultural societies throughout the country, on certain conditions. I am not prepared to extend the concession further.
