§ Colonel ASHLEYasked the Minister of Health whether he is aware that the Falmouth Guardians have recently appointed to the position of registrar a civilian of military age who is a solicitor with a good practice in the town, in spite of the fact that several well-qualified ex-service men applied for the position; and what steps he proposes to take to secure that the Government's policy in regard to preference being given to ex-service men is carried out?
§ Dr. ADDISONThe hon. and gallant Member has been misinformed. The appointment in question relates, not to the office of registrar, but to that of superintendent-registrar. The latter post is usually held by the Clerk to the Guardians, who has been appointed in the present instance, and the question of preference for ex-service men does not therefore arise.
