§ Major W. MURRAYasked the Secretary for Scotland whether the staff of the Board of Agriculture for Scotland has been increased since the beginning of this year; and, if so, whether he will state for what purposes, and to what extent, this increase has been found necessary?
§ Mr. MUNROThe authorised number of persons employed by the Board has been increased by eighty-eight since 1st January last. This additional staff is designed to enable the Board to cope satisfactorily with the growth of Departmental work and especially with the settlement of ex-Service men on the land, which has been retarded by lack of adequate staff.
