HC Deb 26 November 1919 vol 121 c1827W
MR. HARTSHORN

asked the President of the Board of Trade if he can state the quantity of coal used for bunker in coastwise trade; the average price paid at present; and the amount of reduction per ton which will take place on Monday next?

Sir A. GEDDES

The average monthly quantity of coal used for bunkering ships in the coastwise trade from April, 1919, to October, 1919, inclusive, was 109,168 tons; the average present price of such bunkers is estimated at about 60s. per ton; and it is proposed to reduce this figure to about 32s. 6d. or 35s. per ton f.o.b. for unscreened bunker coal, according to the district from which the coal is drawn.
