§ Mr. BRACEasked the Minister of Transport whether he is aware that, in several English counties, including Berkshire and Somersetshire, many hundreds of tons of hayherotting on the ground on account of the shortage of wagons for conveyance to the South Wales collieries; whether any action will be taken to expedite the carriage of this hay; and whether he will consider the advisability of putting hay in the category of perishable foodstuffs so that it may receive some priority of transport?
§ Sir E. GEDDESOne complaint of delay in the conveyance of hay to a South Wales colliery has been brought to my notice, but on inquiry the complaint was not substantiated I am not aware of any special ground for complaint as regards this class of traffic, and regret I cannot support the suggestion that it should be included in the category of perishable foodstuffs.
