HC Deb 24 November 1919 vol 121 c1459W
Colonel LAMBERT WARD

asked the Secretary of State for War if he can give the number of officers on full pay who are in excess of the present establishment of the Army?

Mr. FORSTER

There are a I present a considerable number of officers drawing full pay on Regular commissions in excess of the establishment of 1914. Their employment with troops enables temporary officers to be demobilised. Until the future establishment of the Army is settled and it is seen how many Regular officers will retire, it will not be possible to say how many such officers are supernumerary.
