§ Colonel WEDGWOODasked the Home Secretary how many of the repatriated 943W aliens had British-born wives; and how many of these wives accompanied their husbands?
§ Mr. SHORTTI regret that the figures asked for in the first paragraph of the question are not available. As regards the second paragraph, it was not possible in the case of men repatriated from the internment camps to arrange for wives to go with them. The wives followed, or in some cases preceded their husbands, but British-born wives were not sent away against their will.
