asked the Minister of Transport whether he will arrange, in consultation with the Secretary for Scotland, for a conference between himself and representatives of local authorities in Scotland with a view to necessary consideration and action regarding the condition of the highways, bridges, etc., in Scotland and the present rating situation, especially in some northern counties?

I shall be glad to meet representatives of the local authorities for Scotland if they so desire, to discuss the matters referred to.
