asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer if he can state the amount of the loans made by the United States to the Allies for which Great Britain has accepted a contingent liability?

There are no such loans unless my hon. Friend would so describe the joint Anglo-French loan of $500,000,000 issued in 1915, for which -the French and British Governments are jointly and severally liable.
