HC Deb 17 November 1919 vol 121 c651W
MR. PERKINS

asked the Secretary of State for War whether he is aware that several Regular officers of the Indian Medical Service now in Mesopotamia have served there continuously for four hot seasons, while some of them have not been on furlough for nine years; and what arrangements have been made for their speedy relief?

Mr. MONTAGU

There are, I am afraid, a number of officers in the Indian Medical Service whose leave is overdue. This unfortunate state of affairs, to remedy which no effort is being spared, is not peculiar to Mesopotamia. If the hon. Member refers specifically to Indian Medical Service officers in civil employment in Mesopotamia, he will be glad to hear that it is hoped to replace them from this country before very long.
