HC Deb 11 November 1919 vol 121 c252W
LIEUT.-Commander KENWORTHY

asked the Under-Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs if he is aware that the French Government have, or did have, a representative in the Ukraine; whether there is a British representative in this important State which is friendly to His Majesty; if so, who is he; and, if not, whether it is intended to send a representative?

Mr. HARMSWORTH

A representative of the French Government was accredited to the Ukranian Government in 1917, but there has been no French representative since 9th February, 1918, when the Ukraine signed a separate peace with Germany. With regard to the second part of the question, there is no British representative attached to the Ukranian Government nor in existing circumstances do His Majesty's Government contemplate appointing one.
