§ Mr. GRUNDYasked the Postmaster-General whether he is aware that night telephonists have not been treated on the same basis as other Post Office employés on the question of compensation for Peace Day and that this differentiation in treatment on the occasion of a national holiday has been felt most keenly by the men concerned; and whether lie will take steps to allay this dissatisfaction by an early rectification of the anomaly?
1705W
Mr. ILLNGWORTHThe ordinary rules as regards compensation for attendance on Bank and public holidays are not applicable to night telephonists; but, as a special arrangement, those night telephonists who were required to work on Peace Day were granted a day's holiday in lieu. I see no need to make any further concession in their favour.
