HC Deb 04 November 1919 vol 120 cc1333-4W
Mr. MOSLEY

asked the Minister of Pensions whether he can state the date of appointment of the officials in the Tri- bunals Department of that Ministry; and what duties they have performed since that date?

Sir J. CRAIG

Appointments to the Tribunals have been made at various dates to meet the continuous expansion of this work. The first Pension Appeal Tribunal was constituted in July, 1917. Additional tribunals have been set up from time to time, the total number at 31st October,. 1919, being fifteen. The president of the tribunals has the assistance of a secretary, and a small clerical staff. Each tribunal consists of a vice-president, and a naval and military member, and officials acting as medical assessor, secretary, and clerical assistant to the secretary, who have performed their respective duties since the dates of their appointment. The tribunals have heard and given final decision in nearly 15,000 cases.
