Mr. G. DOYLEasked the Chancellor of the Exchequer if his attention has been called to the fact that the owners and managers of cinema palaces, etc., have in many cases increased their prices of admission by 50 per cent. without any diminution in the crowded attendances; and whether he is prepared to consider the advisability of making the Entertainments Tax a sliding one on a higher scale and dependent on the price of admission?
Mr. CHAMBERLAINI have no know ledge of the fact alleged by my hon. Friend, but I would remind him that the existing rates of Entertainments Tax are fixed on a sliding scale.
