§ Mr. JOHN JONESasked the Parliamentary Secretary to the Ministry of Munitions if he will state the amount of compensation paid to the firm of Brunner, Mond, and Company in connection with the loss and damage to their property caused by the explosion at Silvertown on the 19th January, 1917?
Mr. J. HOPEThe amount of compensation paid to Messrs, Brunner, Mond and Co. is £185,000. This sum, which was paid in pursuance of a contract in respect c f the actual premises on which the explosion occurred, must be distinguished from the amounts paid in respect of third-party claims, of which I gave particulars to the hon. Gentleman on the 23rd instant.
