§ Mr. GILBERTasked the President of the Board of Education whether his attention has been called to the inquest held recently on a schoolgirl in Old Kent Road when returning from school across a main-traffic road; and whether he will cause representations to be made to all local authorities in London to provide sufficient and adequate street refuges in all main-traffic roads that children have to use in going to and from school?
§ Mr. FISHERMy attention has not been called to this case. I understand that arrangements are made in certain cases by the London County Council with the police authorities for affording special protection at the hours when children are arriving at or leaving school, but I will communicate with the London County Council and the borough council as to the circumstances in this case.
