SHAWasked the Secretary of State for War whether he can state the number of yards of khaki material held on behalf of the Government, and for how many months the stock is estimated to suffice for Army requirements; and whether, in view of the present prices of clothing material for civilian wear, he will release any portion of the material so that it may be redyed for civilian requirements?
§ Mr. FORSTERThe stock of material considered suitable for dyeing for civilian wear is approximately 6,500,000 yards. The amount of this material that can be handed over to the Ministry of Munitions is now under consideration, having regard to the settlement of reserves to be maintained and the upkeep of the existing and future forces in the field.
