Sir J. D. REESasked the Postmaster-General whether he is aware that a special surcharge of £3 10s. is being made in respect of the reinstallation of telephones in the houses of former subscribers on their return from service in the Army to civil life, though in such cases little is required except to refix wires and fittings; 947W and whether he can see his way to remitting this charge in cases of the class indicated?
§ Mr. ILLINGWORTHI shall be glad if the hon. Member will give me particulars of the cases which he has in mind. It is not the general practice to collect a surcharge for the reinstallation of the telephone of a subscriber who relinquished it because of the requirements of his service with the forces.
