§ Major HAYWARDasked the Financial Secretary to the War Office whether he is aware that moneys due from Army funds to the infant children of deceased soldiers are being invested on their behalf by command paymasters in the Orphans' Savings Bank of the War Office at 2½ per cent. compound interest; and whether he will give orders that in the future such funds shall be invested in Government securities or other trustees' securities yielding a higher rate of interest?
§ Mr. FORSTERThese investments are made by the War Office in pursuance of Section 9 of the Regimental Debts Act of 1893. I will consider whether some more productive form of investment can be arranged.
