§ Mr. ALFRED SHORTasked the President of the Local Government Board whether he is aware that, in Northallerton, a company has bought a block of property with a view of pulling it down and erecting a cinema; that this property consists of a shop and thirteen cottages, ten of which are occupied; that three cottages have been kept empty since the last tenants left; whether building material and labour will be allowed for such a project; and whether, in view of the great shortage of housing accommodation in the town, he can approach the local authority on the matter?
§ Major ASTORMy right hon. Friend has no information in regard to the matter, and the Local Government Board has no jurisdiction in regard to it, nor, as far as I am aware, has the local authority. I am, however, sending a copy of the question to the local authority.
