§ Mr. F. ROBERTSasked the Food Controller whether he is satisfied that no foodstuffs are being exported, either by general or special licence, which are required in this country; whether certain foodstuffs are being exported whilst unduly high prices still obtain in the United Kingdom for the same commodities; whether the prices of many foodstuffs are being increased by export being permitted; and whether the export of food is taking place at the expense of the British consumer?
§ Mr. McCURDYThe answer to the first part of the question is in the affirmative. In no case are the prices of foodstuffs being increased by the permission to export, and I can assure the hon. Member that no export of food will be allowed to take place at the expense of the British consumer.
