HC Deb 10 March 1919 vol 113 cc940-1W
Mr. GLANVILLE

asked the Postmaster-General if he has received a letter from Messrs. Scriven Brothers, of Weston Street, Bermondsey, as follows: On the 21st February we received from you a telegram from Auckland containing proposals for business; as it arrived mutilated we sent it back on the 22nd and up to this moment, although we have continually applied, we have had no repeat of the mutilations; it is monstrous that business should be interfered with in this way; will you kindly give us an answer as to when we are likely to get this repetition; we are putting it before our Member, asking him if he can give us any assistance; whether Messrs. Scriven Brothers have received a reply yet, and when and why was the reply delayed; and, if no reply has been sent to Messrs. Scriven Brothers, why was it delayed?

Mr. ILLINGWORTH

The letter was duly received on the 4th instant, and immediate inquiries were made. The delay in furnishing a repetition of the telegram in question was due to irregularities, of which proper notice has been taken. I regret the inconvenience caused to Messrs. Scriven Brothers.
