HC Deb 04 March 1919 vol 113 c242W
Brigadier-General CROFT

asked the Financial Secretary to the War Office whether his attention has been called to the hardship incurred by retired Army officers who gave up their civil occupation in order to serve in the War; and whether, in the case of such retired officers who have served, and have now been demobilised, it is the intention of the War Office to increase their pensions, having regard to their services in the War?

Mr. CHURCHILL

Retired combatant officers up to certain ages are liable under Article 518 of the Pay Warrant to be recalled to service in a national emergency, and they draw retired pay in addition to full pay while employed in such service. In such cases the additional service does not count for an increase in retired pay. It is not intended to alter this Regulation.
