HC Deb 04 March 1919 vol 113 cc245-6W
Sir F. HALL

asked the President of the Local Government Board whether he is aware of the amount of shop property in London that is empty, and of the fact that no use is being made of the premises in consequence of there being no private entrance; whether he has considered as to the advisability of alterations being made so as to provide a separate entrance, in order that the remainder of the premises may be let for private occupation, thereby finding considerable housing accommodation; and what steps, if any, he proposes to take in the matter?

Major ASTOR

My right hon. Friend is considering the question of facilitating the adaptation of existing buildings in suitable cases for use as working-class dwellings in connection with the Housing Bill.
