§ Mr. HOLMESasked the President of the Board of Trade whether he is aware that dissatisfaction exists among railway-men concerning the slowness with which the eight-hour day on the railways is being arranged and concerning the amount of overtime that is being imposed; and whether he proposes to take action in the matter?
§ Mr. BRIDGEMANI have no reason to believe that the railway companies are not doing their best to give effect to the adoption of the principle of an eight-hour day, but regard must be had to the difficulties at present in the way of giving full force to that principle. If the hon. Member has any special cases in mind, I shall be happy to look into them on receiving particulars.
