HC Deb 04 June 1919 vol 116 cc2040-1W
Sir KINGSLEY WOOD

asked the Parliamentary Secretary to the Ministry of Munitions whether pensioners of the Army Ordnance Department of the Ordnance Factory who rejoined during the War have been discharged on reduction of establishment, whilst civilians employed during the War of greater age have been retained?

Mr. CHURCHILL

It is understood that the reference is to civilian employés in the Army Ordnance Department at Woolwich Arsenal. All men over the ordinary age limit are being replaced by ex-soldiers. The order in which discharge is taking place is being based entirely on efficiency.
