HC Deb 04 June 1919 vol 116 c2050W
Sir F. FLANNERY

asked the President of the Board of Trade if his attention has been called to the cases in which the use and manufacture of patented apparatus and methods serviceable to the community have been stopped by the War, thus reducing the beneficial returns to the owners of patents useful in peace but not available for war purposes; whether the fourteen years' life of such patents has been virtually reduced by four and a half years of war; and whether the Government will introduce legislation to facilitate the extension of the lives of such patents within the discretion of the Controller of Patents and without the expense of a hearing before the Privy Council?

Sir A. GEDDES

I would refer my hon. Friend to the reply given on the 10th May to a question by the hon. and learned Member for Ealing, of which I am sending him a copy.
