HC Deb 04 June 1919 vol 116 cc2052-3W
Major NALL

asked the President of the-Board of Trade what arrangements have now been made to deal with the holiday traffic to the Isle of Man; and whether the Admiralty can lend any ships to assist with the Whitsuntide pressure?

Colonel WILSON

I have been asked to reply. The Isle of Man route vessels under requisition were released by the Government at the end of March in order that they might be prepared for the holiday traffic, and this is being done. The vessels bought from the Isle of Man Steam Packet Company, Limited, by the Admiralty cannot be returned at present. The Government is unable to place ships on this service in view of the release from Government requisition of all vessels not requisitioned for Government service.
