HC Deb 04 June 1919 vol 116 c2037W
Mr. ALFRED DAVIES (Clithero)

asked the Pensions Minister how many disabled sailors and soldiers have received training in new occupations under the Ministry and how many have been placed in employment; and whether he will consider the claims of those disabled men who have received training but are not in employment to a continuation of full disability pension pending employment being found?

Sir R. HORNE

I have been asked to reply to this question. About 15,600 men have completed training under various training schemes. It is not possible to say how many of these men have been placed in employment. Great care has, however, been exercised to train disabled men only in those trades which present good prospects of employment. With regard to the last part of the question, I would point out that a disabled man who is unable to secure employment immediately upon the completion of his training is entitled to receive unemployment donation, in addition to their disability pension.
