§ Sir S. HOAREasked the President of the Board of Education what is the cause of the delay in carrying out the necessary work at the Carlyle and Sloane schools, Chelsea, which were during the War used as military hospitals; and whether the schools will be ready to receive pupils at the beginning of the autumn term?
§ Mr. FISHERThese schools were evacuated and the hospital equipment removed in April last. The Board made representations to the military authorities in May, and again at the beginning of July, point- 409W ing out the importance of the schools being ready to reopen in autumn, and urging that the work of repairs and reinstatements should be completed with all possible expedition. I hope that this will be effected and the school premises be in full working order before the beginning of the autumn term.
