§ Sir JOHN BUTCHERasked the Chief Secretary for Ireland whether his attention has been directed to an attack on two police constables by a body of Gaelic football players at Camlough, county Armagh, on Sunday, 6th July; and whether he can give the House any particulars of the occurrence?
§ Mr. MACPHERSONAt 11 o'clock p.m. on 6th instant, when Constables Doggett and Kearney, of the Royal Irish Constabulary, were on duty between Camlough and Crossmaglen, they found some members of a Gaelic football team fighting on the road. While trying to restore order they were assaulted by four persons. Constable Doggett received serious injuries. He is progressing favourably, and is now believed to be out of danger. Constable Kearney received only slight injuries. The four men referred to were arrested, and were remanded till 12th August.
