§ Mr. PERKINSasked the Secretary of State for War whether among the soldiers-released from Egypt are included any of the Hants Regiment quartered at Aden; and, if not, whether, in view of the length of the period of retention in Aden and the number of cases of sickness reported, he will see his way to order their release at least as rapidly as the troops from Egypt are sent home?
§ Mr. CHURCHILLAs far as I am aware, the answer to the first part of my hon. Friend's question is in the negative. As regards the second part, the relief of the troops at Aden will be carried out as soon as possible by Regular troops from home in the same manner as other garrisons in distant stations. In the meantime the release of soldiers eligible for demobilisation will be proceeded with according to the programme recently announced. I regret the unavoidable delay which has occurred.
