HC Deb 27 February 1919 vol 112 c1986W
Mr. LUNN

asked the Financial Secretary to the War Office if he can state the method being adopted to dispose of surplus Army boots, new and repaired; and whether, in order that working men may be given facilities to purchase these boots at a reasonable price direct from the department, he will favourably consider the possibility of putting up in post offices a notice advising would-be purchasers where to apply in writing and the prices for the various kinds and sizes?

Mr. KELLAWAY

The problem of supplying the public at reasonable prices has already been carefully considered by the Department, and has been met by giving the small buyer throughout the United Kingdom, after advertisement in the local press, the opportunity of acquiring small or assorted sizes of either unrepaired or repaired discarded Army boots on equal terms to the large buyer.
