§ Major ASTORWorks of public utility are now in progress to a considerable extent, and every effort is being made to facilitate the commencement of other works of that character. The Local Government Board are making arrangements for expediting the preparation and execution of housing schemes, and their inspectors are conferring with the local authorities with a view to bringing into operation, as rapidly as possible, schemes of public utility calculated to provide employment.
